Job Description
Job Title: Hire Technician & Driver
Department: Hire Operations
Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Main Purpose
To ensure all new and existing, internal and external customers are dealt with professionally and their requirements achieved efficiently and accurately. Maximise all opportunities by cross-selling and up-selling our services and products with a positive "can do" attitude.
Main Tasks
• Dealing directly with customers & clients, face to face and by telephone.
• Understanding the availability of equipment for hire by using the systems and procedures in place.
• To have a good working knowledge of the Lighting, Sound and AV products we own
• Picking and packing equipment from lists
• Working on site to setup and take down lighting, staging, sound and audio visual equipment.
• Occasional operation of lighting, sound and audio visual equipment
• Checking equipment which has been returned from customers and returning to stores
• Minor repairs to equipment
• Ensure that the warehouse remains clean, tidy and a safe working environment.
• Delivery and Collection of Hire Equipment.
• To represent the company in a professional and responsible manner at all times.
• Due to the nature of the branch there may also be a need to face customers and complete simple transactions in our shop
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
The person will be a confident team player and have excellent organisational skills, a good communicator and professional in dealing with customers, both internal & external. To be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines making confident decisions. Have a good level of computer literacy.
Ideal candidates would have:
• Previous experience working in a similar role and environment
• Full UK driving licence
• 5 GCSE's or above
• Have previously studied technical theatre (or similar)
• The ability to work on own initiative
• Good level of computer skills
• Counterbalance forklift license (desirable but not essential)
• Good knowledge of the local area (desirable but not essential)
Department Hours of Work
This is a full time and permanent position contracted to work 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. Generally, hours of work at 08:00 - 16:30 Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays 10:00 - 14:00.
